Aleta Chappelle began her career in the film industry at Francis Ford Coppola's ZOETROPE STUDIOS, where she assisted in the casting of THE OUTSIDERS, RUMBLE FISH, PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED, TUCKER, THE COTTON CLUB and more. She soon advanced to the level of casting director and some of her credits included:

In 2016 the POCONO MOUNTIAN FILM FESTIVAL present Ms. Chappelle with a Casting Director Lifetime Achievement Award. The CASTING SOCIETY of AMERICA nominated her for a Best Casting Award for two of the HBO films she cast - LIFE SUPPORT and INTRODUCING DOROTHY DANDRIDGE starring Halle Berry. She won a BLACK REEL and URBAN WORLD FILM FESTIVAL Best Ensemble Casting Award for the feature film MOOZ-LUM.

Ms. Chappelle’s feature film directorial debut was the hit comedy GOOSED starring Jennifer Tilly, Joan Rivers, and Damon Wayans. The film was executive produced by her mentor Francis Ford Coppola. She has since directed numerous short films, documentary projects and several other feature films, including ROMEO & JULIET IN HARLEM, which was invited to screen at numerous film festivals from London to Los Angeles, and the film has enjoyed a record breaking educational distribution release.​ Her most recent feature film RED DRESS SOLILOQUY will be streaming on various platforms soon, and her production company has numerous theatre and film projects in development.

For the stage some of Ms. Chappelle's writing and directing credits include the OFF-Broadway Kaufman Theatre workshop production of her play THE MARY ELLEN PLEASANT STORY. Her original play THE CONCEPT OF LOVE was performed Off-Off Broadway and starred Julianna Margulies. In 2005, Ms. Chappelle founded the HARLEM CHILDRENʼS THEATRE, and when in New York City she continues to volunteer her time to teach free acting classes for children, and direct the children in performances that are presented free of charge at libraries and nursing homes in Harlem.
The last 3 years in addition to working on film projects and teaching, she directed and produced MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, AS YOU LIKE IT, and THE TEMPEST at the Botanical Garden in Lisbon, Portugal. And in July 2024 she will direct her 11th Shakespeare play when she returns to the Botanical Garden to direct MACBETH.

In addition, Ms. Chappelle is a renowned ACTING TEACHER who has taught adult and children's classes in New York City, Frankfort, Athens, Lisbon, and Berlin.
​
She is also a member of the Casting Society of America (CSA) and she still offers her CASTING DIRECTOR services to Studio and Independent Filmmakers.
